Xbox strategy manager says the company uses AI, shows three-hour game sample
Brandon Stirrup, who works on business strategy at Xbox, said publicly that Xbox is using AI and showed a simple game sample he built over a weekend, saying he had never made a video game before and put in about three hours of active work. He said he used Unreal Engine and MCP, and posted a screen recording of an agent repeatedly testing, observing results and adjusting. The report describes the demo as a personal experiment that cannot by itself prove the cost or final quality of a full commercial game, and says it reflects Stirrup's own position rather than a Microsoft AI development policy; he also argued that some studio managers avoid discussing AI publicly because players are broadly negative toward it, while automating repetitive tasks draws less opposition than replacing writers or artists.
Stirrup's remarks are an on-record acknowledgement from inside Xbox that AI is already part of game development, a subject the report says parts of the industry avoid discussing publicly.
