Google launches Playground, a no-code AI platform that turns prompts into games

Google on Oct. 7 introduced Playground, an experimental gaming platform where users describe a game in natural language and get a playable result without coding. It runs in the browser and, according to a Google spokesperson, is powered by Gemini, Nano Banana and Lyria plus custom software tuned on games Google built itself; creators can pick 2D or 3D and, for select genres, single- or multiplayer. Playground is available only to US users aged 18+, with creation access tiered by Google One membership, and games can be kept private, shared by link or published to the Explore gallery, which ranks by player ratings and activity. Google also said a future Unity Spark integration will add professional-level mechanics, high-fidelity 3D and the Unity runtime; Spark is in testing with a closed beta coming soon.

Common Sense Media rates ChatGPT for Teens an “unacceptable risk”

Common Sense Media’s Youth AI Safety Institute rated OpenAI’s ChatGPT for Teens an “unacceptable risk,” citing unreliable parental alerts, gaps in crisis support, and a tendency to provide students with completed homework answers. OpenAI disputed the assessment, arguing that much of the testing may have occurred before parental controls were fully activated; Common Sense Media said its results still stand, including for accounts tested beyond the activation window.

CoreWeave to build first India data centers with 240MW from AdaniConneX

CoreWeave said it will open its first India data centers, taking 240 megawatts at an AdaniConneX campus in Navi Mumbai and becoming the sole tenant across three 80-megawatt buildings, with an option for another 240 megawatts. The first phase is expected online in mid-2028, running Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform for training, inference, reasoning and AI agents, with direct liquid cooling for the GPU halls and a chilled-water system that does not rely on evaporation. Bloomberg reported the investment will total multiple billions of dollars over the project's life, though CoreWeave did not give a figure; this is its second Asia market after Indonesia, and the company will also open an India office and hire locally.

Kling AI Reportedly Prepares Hong Kong IPO, Testing Kuaishou’s Valuation

Kling AI has reportedly selected CICC, Goldman Sachs and UBS to prepare a Hong Kong IPO that could raise at least $1 billion, with a target as early as 2027; the timing and size may change. The analysis argues that a separate listing could give AI-video investors a direct investment option while forcing Kuaishou Technology to justify the value of its advertising, e-commerce and livestreaming businesses, as well as its capital allocation.

OpenAI posts 722 AI-generated math manuscripts on GitHub, reigniting ethics row

OpenAI published 722 math manuscripts, grouped into 372 result families and produced by an unreleased internal model, in a public GitHub repository rather than peer-reviewed journals. The work spans a claimed "quasi-Riemann hypothesis," the BSD conjecture and Hilbert's tenth problem over the rationals, drawn from roughly 4,000 research problems at an average of about three hours of ChatGPT Pro thinking compute per result, with Lean formalizations for many. Some mathematicians criticized the company for bypassing academic publication norms and for a credit dispute, while the same internal model's claimed Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize solution remains under formal review.

DeepGEMM adds Ascend support and new kernels, trends on GitHub

DeepGEMM is DeepSeek's open-source, high-performance tensor-core kernel library that unifies many core LLM computation primitives — FP8/FP4/BF16 GEMMs, fused MoE with overlapped communication (Mega MoE), MQA scoring for the lightning indexer (including a sparse version) and HyperConnection (HC) — in a single CUDA codebase, with all kernels compiled at runtime via DeepJIT and no CUDA compilation at install time. According to the repository's changelog, DeepGEMM-Ascend became available on 2026.09.30 alongside new optimizations such as locality domain features, after earlier additions of the Sparse Indexer, Mega Gate, Mega mHC and MoE/Indexer optimizations. The repo also says its performance matches or exceeds expert-tuned libraries across various matrix shapes, and that it reached up to 1550 TFLOPS on H800 in April 2025.

OpenAI upgrades ChatGPT plugins with MCP event automation

At OpenAI DevDay 2026, OpenAI announced an upgrade to ChatGPT plugin extensions: developers can build in-app experiences in ChatGPT, give plugins a dedicated sidebar entry, build interactive panels for working alongside a conversation, or create viewers for supported file types, with plugin-building tools and a redesigned submission flow; OpenAI is also improving how plugins are sorted and recommended in the directory and in conversations, while users keep control over which plugins to use and approve access individually. Business, Enterprise, healthcare, and Education plans can connect supported ChatGPT plugins to a self-built site, letting team members sign in to the same app with their own permissions and their own connected data, and adding and managing automations has been simplified. OpenAI also said it is adding support for the proposed MCP event spec, so plugins can start automations when events occur in connected apps—for example, watching a project board for new tasks and drafting a plan from linked documents.

text-to-cad plugin gives coding agents local CAD generation and DFM checks

text-to-cad is an agent plugin that adds local CAD workflows: it generates 3D models as STEP, GLB, STL or 3MF from plain-language or image requests, runs design-for-manufacturing checks, produces dimensioned engineering drawings, and connects to 3D printing, sheet metal and CNC fabrication services. It installs into Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor, Gemini and Grok Build — any agent supporting plugins or the skills framework — or as skills alone via npx skills add; it runs through uv and downloads the cadgen runtime on first start. Skills cover CAD, off-the-shelf STEP parts, engineering drawings, DXF, URDF/SRDF, SDF, SendCutSend pre-upload checks, DfAM printability checks, OrcaSlicer G-code and Bambu Lab printing.
