Musk Says Grok Bot Limits Reflect Unsustainable Costs
After X users said Grok Bot's weekly quotas were being consumed faster than usual, Elon Musk said the service's costs were unsustainable relative to revenue and that reducing usage limits and notifying users was rational. IT之家 reports that SpaceX launched Grok Bot in August as an AI agent that uses a virtual computer to perform tasks such as shopping, with weekly-reset limits across tiers ranging from free to $200 per month. According to the report, SpaceX disclosed 800,000 paid weekly active users and planned to bundle Grok Bot into a new $8-per-month X subscription with X Premium and Cursor, though the bundle's availability was not established.
The reported limit reduction directly concerns access constraints and service economics for an AI agent with 800,000 disclosed paid weekly users, although Musk's cost assessment was not independently verified.

Elon Musk says Grok Bot was costing SpaceX too much to run for the money it brought in. He said so on X on Sunday. He was replying to subscribers whose weekly usage of the AI agent had run out days early.
One user, posting as Doge Norway, asked him for a reset. Lots of people said their usage “ran out really fast this week”, the user wrote. Musk replied on X:
“The cost of serving Grok Bot was unsustainably high relative to revenue,” Musk wrote.
