OpenAI Plans Post-Midterm AI Policy and PR Blitz
Axios-sourced reports say OpenAI plans a policy and public-relations campaign after the U.S. midterm elections. Its proposals include mandatory safeguards for the most capable AI systems, called “speed limits,” and possibly rebranding data centers as “AI compute campuses,” alongside proposals on training, global standards and community benefits. The campaign was still a plan, and the reports do not establish that the proposed limits or renaming had been adopted.
The disclosure shows OpenAI is seeking to shape U.S. AI policy and the public debate over data-center expansion, not merely reacting to regulation.
