Google Adds Ad-Personalization Exception for Personal Intelligence Data
Google’s privacy policy, effective October 16, allows data users make available to eligible Google services to help personalize content, including advertisements, according to Android Authority, TechSpot and other outlets. Gmail, Drive and Google Photos content remains excluded from personalized ads by default, but the exception applies when users connect those services through features such as Personal Intelligence. Google says advertisers do not receive directly identifying details such as names or email addresses without permission.
The policy links context shared to improve Gemini and Search responses with a broader opt-in path for ad personalization, while users who disconnect connected apps may still have previously saved information in Search Services History.

Add Android Authority on Google:
TL;DR
- Google updated its privacy policy to clarify that it could use information shared through Personal Intelligence to personalize ads.
- Gmail, Drive, and Photos content isn’t used for targeted ads by default, but connecting them to eligible Google services could change that.
- You can disconnect connected apps or disable personalized recommendations, but previously saved data may remain in Search Services History.
Google has been pushing Personal Intelligence to make its AI services useful. Instead of giving you generic answers, Gemini and Google Search can pull information from connected apps, including Gmail and Google Photos, to better understand what you’re asking and provide more relevant responses.
