Nobel economist Acemoglu: only ~5% of jobs will be automated by AI in 10 years
Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman posted on X on Oct. 6 citing Nobel economics laureate Daron Acemoglu's forecast that only about 5% of human jobs will be replaced by AI within 10 years. In an article published in July in the inaugural issue of The Humanist Review, Acemoglu estimated that AI could technically automate roughly 20% of work, but adoption constraints mean only about 5% will actually be automated over a decade — a figure he acknowledged is "just an estimate." He argued that AI performs well in lab settings such as coding and radiology diagnosis, yet real-world enterprise deployments lag, with engineers spending significant time debugging AI-generated code.

IT之家 10 月 8 日消息，微软 AI 首席执行官穆斯塔法 · 苏莱曼（Mustafa Suleyman）于 10 月 6 日在 X 平台发布推文，援引诺贝尔经济学奖得主达龙 · 阿西莫格鲁（Daron Acemoglu）的预测称，未来 10 年内仅有约 5% 的人类工作会被人工智能取代。
IT之家查询公开资料，阿西莫格鲁是当代颇具影响力的经济学家之一，主要研究政治经济学、经济发展、制度、技术变迁与收入不平等。
他于 2024 年和西蒙 · 约翰逊（Simon Johnson）、詹姆斯 · 罗宾逊（James A. Robinson）共同获得诺贝尔经济学奖，获奖理由是“关于制度如何形成及其如何影响繁荣的研究”。
本次转发的文章于今年 7 月发表在《人文主义评论》（The Humanist Review）创刊号上，阿西莫格鲁估算，从技术上来看，AI 可以自动化约 20% 的工作，但受企业采纳速度限制，10 年内实际自动化比例仅约 5%。他坦言这一数字“诚然只是一个估计值”。

苏莱曼今年 2 月曾对《金融时报》表示，律师、会计师、项目经理等白领岗位的“大部分任务”将在 12 至 18 个月内实现自动化。6 月他在播客中澄清，此言指“任务”而非“岗位”，AI 仅让工作完成更快，不意味职位消失。
