Anthropic launches Claude Haiku 5.5, touting ~75% lower running cost
Anthropic announced Claude Haiku 5.5 on October 7, calling it the fastest, cheapest and most capable small model in the Haiku family. Requests up to 100,000 tokens are priced at $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens, rising to $0.50 and $2.50 beyond that threshold; Anthropic says average running costs are about 75% lower than Haiku 4.5. It is the first Haiku model with adjustable performance settings and is positioned as a subagent for Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 on coding tasks, while Sonnet 5.5's cache-read price drops from $0.20 to $0.10 per million tokens — Anthropic says that cuts costs roughly 20% on many agent tasks.
Why it matters: Cheaper small models directly lower the cost of running agents and high-volume workloads, and make Haiku more viable as a subagent inside coding pipelines.

在知识工作测试中，Haiku 5.5 在 GDPval-AA v2.1 取得 1620 分，在 AA-Briefcase v1.1 取得 1578 分。OSWorld 2.1 离线子集成绩为 72.4%，Terminal-Bench 4.0 成绩为 39.2%。
Haiku 5.5 是首款支持可调节性能设置的 Haiku 模型，用户可选择配置成本与智能程度。Anthropic 同时将其定位为 Opus 5.5 和 Sonnet 5.5 执行编码任务时的子智能体模型。
