Gallup: U.S. Worker Engagement Falls to 29%
Gallup’s Q3 2026 poll found U.S. worker engagement fell to 29%, the lowest level since 2011, down from 36% in 2020 and 31% in 2024. Engagement declined by five points among fully remote workers and two points among hybrid workers, compared with about one point among on-site workers. Workers in AI-integrated organizations reported engagement similar to those in organizations without AI integration, while remote and hybrid employees remained less engaged. The poll shows an association but does not establish that AI adoption caused the decline.
Gallup said the pattern suggests that AI adoption may be outpacing the communication and managerial support needed to make it effective, making the findings relevant to workplace AI deployment.
