Amazon buys sole stake in Gold Circuit, a first for Taiwan PCB makers
Gold Circuit Electronics said on Sept. 29 that Amazon was the sole subscriber to a NT$1.589 billion private placement, buying 1,856 lots at NT$856 per share — the first time a cloud service provider has directly invested in a Taiwan PCB maker. The same day, the board material maker announced a NT$7.9 billion new plant investment. Analyst Cathay United Securities said the deal locks in Gold Circuit's order visibility for Amazon's next-generation Trainium 4 chip platform and helps it move to higher-end HDI production. Analysts at Taiwan Institute of Economic Research said Amazon's core aim is smooth next-generation AI server shipments, gaining supply priority and flexibility, plus indirect visibility into upstream materials such as copper-clad laminate and low-dielectric glass fabric.
It shows AI server bottlenecks spreading from chips to PCBs and upstream materials, pushing cloud providers to use equity to secure component supply.

過去，國際CSP入股台灣公司，多半針對IC設計商。例如，亞馬遜曾在2024年、2025年，兩度參與前股王世芯-KY的私募案；而今年9月，Google母公司Alphabet則與輝達共同認購聯發科39億美元的海外可轉換公司債（ECB）。
