New DLSS 5 neural rendering model modded into unsupported games, up to 40% faster
A new DLSS 5 Neural Rendering build (310.9.16.0) shipped in an NBA 2K27 update and was quickly extracted by modders, who ran it in games and on GPUs without official support using tools such as OptiScaler and RenoDX. Community testers reported frame-rate gains of up to 40% versus the previous model, with one tester citing up to 90% in The Witcher 3; these results are preliminary and vary by game. Nvidia says the new model is 24% smaller, uses 20% less VRAM at 4K and processes neural rendering up to twice as fast, and the DLL includes Preset A (old model) and Preset B (new model).
DLSS 5's substantial performance overhead has been a major drawback since launch; early community tests suggest the new model may ease it, and modders have already extended support to RTX 20-series cards that Nvidia has not officially announced.
