Claude Code powers open-source Android TV debloating projects
Developers are using Claude Code and ADB to replace Android TV launchers, disable selected system components and remove unwanted background activity from smart TVs. Gathin open-sourced CleanYourTV after disabling 25 components on a Xiaomi TV, while Ansub Khan's separate TV Detox project includes a prompt and installation resources; Khan reported available memory rising from about 370 MB to 600–650 MB after the modification.
The projects show a concrete, reusable workflow for customizing Android TV systems with AI-assisted coding, but Android Authority notes that TV Detox compatibility was tested on emulators rather than physical TVs and reports warranty, security and possible-bricking risks.
