WeChat HarmonyOS beta adds A2A support to send messages via Huawei's Xiaoyi
IT之家 reports that WeChat for HarmonyOS opened an invite-only test of version 8.0.22.44 (8394284) on Huawei's AppGallery, running from October 16 to November 15, 2026, and installable only via a link sent by SMS. The official changelog again says only that known issues were fixed, but according to IT之家 users, the 8.0.22 release also adds invoice titles to profiles, a tappable chat timestamp display switch, a redesigned livestream page and game cache cleanup. The app now also supports waking Huawei's Xiaoyi assistant by voice to send WeChat messages, limited to individual contacts rather than group chats, with first-time use requiring authorization for Xiaoyi to connect to the WeChat assistant.
The report frames the update as WeChat for HarmonyOS gaining A2A capability, letting the system voice assistant send WeChat messages on a user's behalf, though only to individual contacts for now.
