Tencent Opens Yuanbao Search to Developers
Tencent opened Yuanbao Search through Tencent Cloud via Skill, MCP and API integrations, making the search service available to external developers and enterprises for agent and RAG workflows. Tencent says it supports more than 50 internal businesses, draws on 157 sources across 13 vertical sectors and starts at 14 yuan per 1,000 calls; later hands-on testing by Zhidx found that the API returned structured excerpts and source links for several agent research tasks. Most scale, recall and latency figures cited in the launch coverage, including 94% recall and an average index retrieval time of 8 milliseconds, remain vendor claims without independent reproduction.
The launch gives developers an externally accessible Tencent search service that can reduce the need to build and maintain separate retrieval pipelines for AI agents and RAG applications.
