Tangled developers say the release introduces a federated code forge built on the AT Protocol, allowing users to self-host components such as Git hosting, CI runners, the API server and the UI while collaborating with others. The update replaces the Go monolith with a Svelte frontend, an in-memory Rust indexer named bobbin, and Knot2, a Rust Git and SSH server; it also adds organization accounts and stacked pull requests for both Jujutsu and standard Git users. Future plans include private repositories, a CLI, SDKs and skills for agents.
SnooPeripherals5313 created Global Law, a GitHub repository that organizes legislation as semantic, versioned, attributable data that agents can query. The creator licensed the legal information under CC0 and said the project uses Git history to show changes over time. They said separate Claude Code sessions, one for each country or group of countries, downloaded available versions of laws from official publishers and wrote them as commits based on their in-force dates. When sources publish only amending acts, the scripts reconstruct earlier versions by applying amendments in sequence. The creator also said Claude Code running on Claude Opus 5.5 wrote nearly all of the code, while they set the goals, selected sources and made design decisions.
36Kr AI reported that Anthropic released a major update to the Claude Code desktop app that can launch multiple conversations in parallel and return their results to the main session. The report says the new version automatically creates nested sessions for subtasks it judges can run in parallel, and redesigns session management with saved environments, per-folder Git Worktree isolation, a /btw command for side questions in a separate tab, and idle context compaction. An Anthropic engineer, Thariq, is quoted as calling it “almost a v2 version”; the feature details and that characterization come from a single Chinese report and have not been independently confirmed.
Simon Willison's weblog on 13 October 2026 quoted Geoffrey Huntley saying that if a coding agent is not using his diagnostics library, he could introspect and update AGENTS.md, but a delta would remain and it would drift. Instead, Huntley writes a pre-commit hook that checks the git diff for direct calls to observability modules that bypass his diagnostics module, fails the commit, and injects a prompt telling the agent to use the diagnostics library. Huntley said the agent's performance then became "ten out of ten", a self-report with no independent measurement provided.
Anthropic disclosed in an engineering blog post that it has moved its main monorepo off Git and onto an in-house version control system called Scion. Anthropic says merged code changes rose from about 2,500 per day in May 2026 to more than 30,000 per day by September, with main-branch history near 100 GB and CI performing roughly 25 million code checkouts daily; Scion moves operations such as commits, merges and history queries to servers while clients keep only limited caches. Anthropic's internal measurements put Scion's infrastructure CPU and memory use at about one two-hundredth of the Git mirror setup it replaced, with checkouts falling from minutes to seconds and CI saving about 25% of CPU capacity; the system was built by a seven-person team over five months with help from Claude, and Anthropic stresses Scion targets very large repositories and many online agents rather than serving as a general Git replacement.
Linux creator Linus Torvalds has pushed a branch called "noref-filemap-read-with-llm" to his personal Git repository, containing patches that reduce reference-count contention in the page cache when multiple threads read small chunks of the same file. In the patch notes he says the code, test programs, review and the first draft of the cover letter were produced by an LLM coding assistant (Claude Code) under his direction, with performance measurements run on his own machine. A separate "assoc-array-fixes" tag covers readability refactoring of the kernel's associative array code, started after developer Nils Ollrogge reported a bug; testing confirmed that bug and uncovered three further defects traced back to the library's introduction to the kernel in 2013. Neither series has been merged into mainline yet, and both could move forward during the Linux 7.4 merge window.
Speaking at the Linux Foundation's Open Source Summit in Prague, Linux kernel founder Linus Torvalds called AI an interesting and useful tool — a "gateway drug" into programming that lowers the bar for newcomers who might otherwise feel ashamed of early efforts. He cautioned, however, that using AI for "real and important" work requires knowing exactly what you want and what the outcome should be, suggesting people start with toy or personal projects. He also said the flood of AI-generated vulnerability reports and patches has made the security mailing list "almost entirely unmanageable" and is stressing maintainers, with Linux partly answering an AI deluge of patches with its own AI-driven patch review.
A project page on OSChina introduces Libra, described as an AI-native, Git-compatible version control system built for agent workflows. Unlike conventional version control, it is said to record not only code history but how the work was actually done, keeping that memory inside the user's own repository.
agent-notifier connects Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Kimi Code to 8 push channels: when a conversation round ends, it sends a card with the round’s input as the title and the intelligent agent’s final reply as the body. Feishu, Lark, Slack, Bark, DingTalk, WeCom, PushDeer, and Bluebird can all receive it; install multiple channels at once, and one failure won’t block the others.

My current development workflow for my own projects is to use agent tools like deepseek harness locally to write code and make git commits, then install deepseek harness on the server and connect to it through a tunnel, allowing the server-side deepseek harness to handle deployment. The server is Ubuntu, and the local Mac establishes the tunnel connection. Deployment only requires sending a deploy…
