  1. DoorDash's Flux automates 130,000 engineering tasks in a month

DoorDash has moved engineering agent workloads off developer laptops onto its in-house cloud platform Flux, which automated 130,000 engineering tasks in a single month in 2026 and handles more than 25,000 automated code reviews a week, with over 300 Playbooks and more than 10,000 weekly invocations, according to InfoQ Chinese. Flux rests on four platform primitives: cloud Sandboxes isolated with Firecracker micro virtual machines, an internal MCP gateway called Agent Gateway that scopes and logs access to internal systems, reusable YAML-defined Playbooks, and invocation surfaces spanning Slack, GitHub, Cron and the command line; DoorDash says its 95th-percentile target for end-to-end Sandbox setup is under five seconds. DoorDash started with automated code review, then extended Flux to CI triage, on-call, routine maintenance and ticket-driven development, and moved its Slack integration from private channels to public threads so engineers can watch agent runs.

  2. Salesforce's AIforce hands the CRM entry point to Claude and Slack

An analysis by Zhixun Zhiku published via TMTPost says Salesforce unveiled AIforce at Dreamforce on September 15, 2026, letting employees call Salesforce data, permissions and business processes from interfaces such as Claude and Slack, alongside Claudeforce, Slackforce, Agentforce Coworker and the Headless 360 interface for other agents. Citing Salesforce results, it says Agentforce ARR topped $1.5 billion in fiscal 2027 Q2, up more than 240% year over year, yet still only about 3.3% of the quarter's $11.345 billion in revenue on an annualized basis. The author argues Salesforce is shifting from seat subscriptions toward conversation and Flex Credits workload pricing and, in some products, outcome-based fees, with its moat now resting on customer understanding, AI delivery costs and reliable long-term execution.

  3. OpenAI's dots lead says AI lets people choose to work harder or less

According to IT之家 citing Business Insider, Alexander Embyricos, OpenAI's enterprise product lead and head of its new dots agent, said at TechCrunch Disrupt on October 15 that as AI capabilities improve people can either work harder or hand part of the work to AI and ease their load, adding that "we have more choices." He often uses his own dots through Slack, and OpenAI positions dots as an always-on workplace assistant that proactively handles tasks and organizes to-dos. The report also notes that enterprise AI adoption is still early, with most companies not yet automating work tasks, and a reporter pointed to an OpenAI employee using ChatGPT on mobile in cars and planes as a counterpoint on whether AI actually frees up time.

  4. Replit says its agent can pull Slack feedback and start editing the matching project

In a promotional post, Replit showed a prompt telling its agent to use last week's feedback from the #product_feedback Slack channel to improve onboarding in a customer portal, after which the agent finds the project, pulls in the relevant feedback and starts the edit. Replit adds that if the feedback applies to multiple projects, users can keep going in the same chat. The post does not specify availability, permissions or scope for the capability, which is described solely by the vendor.

  6. Stanford economist: remote-work digital chatter became a trove of LLM training data

Citing a Business Insider interview, TechNews reports that Stanford University economist Nick Bloom argues the surge in digital communication after people left offices created large amounts of material for training large language models, turning casual kitchen-table chat into Slack threads that could be fed to LLMs. The article says that as most people shift to hybrid work, impromptu coffee chats and desk-side discussions leave no record, making it a problem for companies to obtain more training data; it also notes that recording office conversations would raise legal and regulatory issues. Bloom separately estimates that remote work raised fertility rates in the United States and Nordic countries by 5%, and lists six ways the WFH era fundamentally changed society.

  7. WeCom and WorkBuddy integrate, placing an AI agent in the contact list

On October 14, Tencent announced a joint release of WeCom and WorkBuddy (WeCom 5.0.12 × WorkBuddy 5.8.0), with WorkBuddy appearing in the WeCom contact list as a conversational bot employees can task like a colleague. The two products share an account system and, within company authorization, open up messaging, documents, meetings and cloud drive capabilities, so results can flow back through WeCom chats, groups, the micro drive or scheduled tasks, while administrators manage seats, permissions and usage from the existing WeCom org structure. Hands-on reports say message triage, document handling, report generation and unread-email summaries work, but approvals are not yet supported, outbound messages require manual confirmation, and WeCom-login data is not shared with existing WorkBuddy accounts.

  8. ShipStation's Deckhand AI IT help desk on Bedrock AgentCore resolved 97.5% of queries

ShipStation Global's engineering team built Deckhand, an AI IT help desk agent that lives in Slack and runs on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, answering routine IT and company questions, reading error-message screenshots, and creating or updating Jira Service Management tickets. The agent uses the Strands Agents SDK with Anthropic's Claude on Amazon Bedrock, exposes classification, ticketing, user resolution and image analysis as MCP tools through AgentCore Gateway, and draws on a Bedrock knowledge base indexing Confluence articles, intranet pages and Slack history. According to the co-written AWS/ShipStation post, it resolved 97.5% of incoming channel queries with a 96% positive feedback rating over three months; a DSPy recursive language model (RLM) pipeline mines resolved Slack threads into verified self-service steps, and the bot is designed to stay silent during human-to-human or social chatter.

  9. AI labs are buying data from dead startups to train their models

MIT Technology Review reports that a new cohort of companies is selling defunct startups' digital assets to AI training buyers. SimpleClosure's Asset Hub helps founders sell code and workspace data from Google, Notion, Figma and Slack; CEO Dori Yona says it has handled more than 150 deals and expects to return over $10 million to startups by the end of 2026, with 47% of deals now including code or data sales, while rival Sunset is also growing its data resale business. The report says Google outbid data company Mercor in August in Spirit Airlines' bankruptcy, paying $10 million for about 100 million emails, 500 million Teams messages and 176,000 employee records, while firms such as Surge AI use such archives to build reinforcement-learning environments. Real archives avoid common errors in synthetic worlds, but the piece notes no company has published tests comparing real-world data training with alternatives, and pricing varies widely because valuations rest on uncertain "research theses". Privacy advocates and attorneys question the sales, and the report says proceeds typically go to senior creditors and investors rather than employees.

  10. Zero to Agent: Building a Personal Assistant on OpenClaw

In the closing episode of O'Reilly Radar's "Zero to Agent in 30 Minutes" series, AI engineer Sajal Sharma showed how to build a personal assistant on OpenClaw that tracks tasks and notes and handles scheduled work on its own. The walkthrough recommends starting with a local install while learning the system, then moving to an always-on machine or hosted environment for continuous availability and adding a messaging channel such as Telegram, WhatsApp or Slack to reach the assistant away from your desk. It then covers setting up a workspace for tasks, notes, skills and memory plus guidance files, and adding proactive automations including a Telegram reminder, a morning briefing, recurring checks and webhooks. The series ends with a new show, "The Monday Morning Agent," debuting October 12.

  11. SaaS sprawl and AI agents widen shadow-integration risk

A vendor-perspective opinion piece published by TechRadar Pro warns that as enterprises rush to adopt SaaS apps and AI tools, "shadow integration" has become an overlooked breach entry point: every third-party OAuth grant and every agent embedded in platforms such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, Workday and Slack expands the attack surface, with the article stating SaaS breaches have risen 300%. It says the average enterprise already hosts hundreds of agents and projects more than one billion agents in enterprise environments by 2028. It also cites Obsidian Security's disclosure of a one-click remote code execution flaw, CVE-2026-40933, in Flowise — an open-source agent and LLM workflow platform with over 52,000 GitHub stars — which an attacker could exploit by inducing an authorized user to import a malicious chatflow to fully compromise a server; the author recommends knowledge graphs to map how users, accounts, permissions and integrations actually relate, enabling adaptive controls on risky connections.

  12. OpenAI Dot vs Meta Muse: two agent philosophies

TechNews compared the new AI agents from OpenAI and Meta. OpenAI's Dot targets work scenarios and is built on the GPT-6 Astra model; each Dot gets its own cloud compute and browser, can run multiple projects at once, and connects to more than 4,000 app plugins plus platforms such as Slack and Microsoft Teams. The report says Dot is expensive and gated: individuals need at least the $100-per-month Pro 100 plan, Business Premium costs $100–125 per user per month, and it is currently available only to eligible users outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK. Meta's Muse is positioned as a personal life assistant that handles email, restaurant bookings, form filling, price comparison and online shopping, supporting Gmail, Google Calendar, OpenTable, Instacart, Expedia and Shopify; it runs on a dedicated, isolated cloud virtual machine and always asks for user authorization before sensitive actions such as sending mail or making payments. Muse offers a free tier with usage limits plus $20 and $100 paid tiers, and has launched first in the US and Canada.

  14. LangChain adds Slack emoji reactions API to Managed Deep Agents

A LangChain blog post says Managed Deep Agents v0.9 adds a reactions attribute for Slack channels that accepts either an emoji string or a callable returning one, so agents can show acknowledgement and loading states during long-running tasks. Developers can use simple heuristics or decision models such as Jev to pick an emoji, with a confidence threshold falling back to a default reaction. The post frames this as a way to show users how an agent interpreted a task and says LangChain uses similar patterns in its internal agents.

  15. Anthropic publishes reference implementation for agent automations

Anthropic's Claude developer blog published a walkthrough of a reference implementation built on Claude Managed Agents (beta) that reads custom sources such as Slack channels and GitHub repos on a schedule, tracks what changed since the last run, and posts a brief to Slack. The post focuses on common failure modes — treating a failed source read as "nothing new," using fixed time windows that create gaps or repeats, and recording a post before it is confirmed — and describes agent.md rules, per-source bookmarks, memory stores, vault credentials, and per-run spending caps to address them. It also provides a /claude-api managed-agents-onboard command to configure the agent interactively in Claude Code.

  16. Google Cloud launches Gemini agent, a universal agent for work

At its Gemini at Work 2026 event, Google Cloud announced the “Gemini agent” for enterprise customers, billed as a “new single, universal agent for work” available in the Gemini Enterprise app, Google Workspace and third-party services including Slack and Microsoft 365. Google says you can “give it objectives, not instructions”: the agent runs in the cloud, routes each job to the model that fits best — including Gemini and Claude models today, with other private and open models promised later — and uses sub-agents for multi-step workflows that can run for hours or days. It is currently in private preview, with wider availability coming soon for select Workspace Business and Enterprise plans; pricing and a full launch date were not disclosed.
