  1. Robotics valuation gap: profitable service robot makers lag embodied AI startups

An analysis published via TMTPost describes a stark valuation split in China's robotics sector: service-robot makers with real revenue trade at low multiples, while early-stage embodied-AI and humanoid startups command multi-billion-yuan valuations with little revenue. It cites Uodi Robotics, which has sold 114,000 robots and reported 318 million yuan in revenue, ending its Hong Kong listing with a market value of about HK$15 billion, and Geek+, which was profitable on an adjusted basis in 2025 with 36% gross margin but trades below HK$8.5 billion and a forecast P/S of just 3–4x. By contrast, the article says Spirit AI has raised about 6 billion yuan and reached a 20 billion yuan valuation in roughly two years, Galbot has raised 7.5 billion yuan at a valuation above 20 billion yuan, and Galaxea doubled its valuation to 20 billion yuan in two months. It also reports 322 embodied-AI primary-market deals worth 93 billion yuan in the first half of the year, roughly five times the year-earlier level, and notes that Unitree's market value fell after listing while Mech-Mind broke issue price on its first trading day.

  2. Robot startups invest while raising, fueling 'raise-and-invest' debate

Citing the Securities Times, 36Kr reports that a group of robot and embodied-AI startups founded only two to three years ago are still unprofitable yet hold billions of yuan in funding, and are simultaneously raising money and investing in other companies — a pattern becoming more common in China's primary market. Two embodied-AI supply-chain companies, Juxie Intelligence and Moxian Technology, recently announced completed funding rounds at the same time, and both counted the same embodied-AI decacorn unicorn among their investors. The trend is concentrated in embodied AI, large models and AI chips, and is most visible in robotics, with more than ten companies including AgiBot, Songyan Power and Galbot having started investing this year.

  3. Hesai launches Kosmo One 8K AI spatial camera and Kosmo World 3D data platform

On October 14, Hesai Technology launched Kosmo, a 3D world data engine consisting of the handheld AI spatial camera Kosmo One and the AI-driven cloud platform Kosmo World. Kosmo One combines lidar, a 1-inch CMOS 8K imaging system and a high-precision IMU with microsecond-level synchronization; Hesai says a typical indoor scan of about 100 square meters takes roughly 15 minutes and that 3D Gaussian Splatting reconstruction plus a purpose-tuned ISP delivers millimeter-level geometric accuracy. Kosmo World uses AI semantic segmentation to extract objects as independently editable 3D assets and automatically completes unscanned regions. Hesai also announced strategic partnerships with Galbot and a second robotics firm and showed case studies with Pixar's RenderMan and Amap, with CEO Li Yifan saying the spatial intelligence market could eventually exceed the lidar market.

  4. AGIBOT reported raising new round at ~50B yuan valuation, delaying IPO

Citing Caijing magazine, reports say embodied-AI company AGIBOT recently opened a new funding round of roughly 1–1.5 billion yuan that is nearing completion, at a latest valuation of about 50 billion yuan. Investors said Hong Kong Exchange rules require a company that raises money after filing but before listing to wait 120 days after the round closes, meaning AGIBOT cannot complete an IPO this year. AGIBOT was founded in 2023 and said on Sept. 24 that its 20,000th embodied-AI robot rolled off the line; a Counterpoint Research report put global humanoid robot shipments in the first half of 2026 above 22,000 units, up nearly 300% year on year, with AGIBOT first at 9,700 units and over 43% share, and the top five all Chinese vendors at 86% combined.

  5. CATL deepens AI bets, joins DeepSeek's reported new funding round

A Huxiu repost of a Baobian article, citing Bloomberg, reports that DeepSeek's new funding round is close to completion at roughly RMB 80–100 billion, with Tencent and CATL again among the biggest investors — about four months after CATL first appeared on DeepSeek's shareholder list. The piece argues CATL is copying its battery-era "shovel seller" playbook in AI, backing embodied-AI companies such as Galbot and several humanoid-robot startups, plus computing-infrastructure and energy-AI firms including VNET, and committing RMB 1.62 billion to two funds aimed explicitly at AI and embodied intelligence. CATL founder Robin Zeng says the expansion stays around the company's core capabilities and that CATL does not intend to compete with AI firms but to contribute energy solutions for AI data centers; JPMorgan is cited as seeing it becoming a strategic energy-infrastructure partner for AI compute. The article also notes humanoid robots have entered a CATL PACK final-inspection line and industrial robots work routinely in its battery plants, and cites International Energy Agency estimates that global data-center electricity use will nearly double to about 945 billion kWh by 2030.

  6. Humanoid robot shipments up 4x, but the industry has no profitable model yet

IDC and Frost & Sullivan both published humanoid robot reports in late September, agreeing the market is scaling but disagreeing sharply on the numbers: IDC counted nearly 25,000 units shipped globally in the first half of 2026, up 432.1% year on year, on $740 million in revenue, while Frost & Sullivan counted 36,000 units and $540 million in revenue, implying an average unit price less than half of IDC's. The article says revenue is concentrated in expensive full-size machines — roughly the priciest fifth of shipments took more than three-quarters of revenue — while deployment in actual production work accounted for under 15%, and no company has shown sustained profit: UBTech, the revenue leader, lost RMB 339 million in the half, whereas Unitree is profitable mainly on volume sales of half-size units such as the G1 (over 5,500 units in 2025, about a 34.8% non-recurring net margin). It also cites Mech-Mind founder Shao Tianlan's public criticism of self-dealing data-collection centers and Galbot's denial and police report, and argues that full-size share, commercialization stage and unit prices are more meaningful indicators for the sector.

  7. Global AI Chip Summit 2026: from TOPS to tokens as agents reshape silicon

The 2026 Global AI Chip Summit in Shanghai brought together more than 60 speakers across an opening session and three forums on large-model AI chips, agent inference chips and embodied-intelligence chips, focused on the computing chain from TOPS to tokens — covering architecture innovation, 3D stacking and near-memory compute, KV cache, new memory types, compute-in-memory, analog computing, RISC-V and token-factory operations. Several vendors used the stage to preview or detail products: Houmo AI said its M50 chip has reached 150+ design wins in half a year of mass production and that its next flagship A20 has taped out; Intel previewed a high-density cabinet with 128 or 192 Granite Rapids processors that it says can run 50,000 concurrent agents; Maitech said its 3D TPU has taped out and is expected back in November. Those figures are vendor claims and have not been independently verified.
