  1. Second German court holds Google liable for its AI search answers

The Aachen Regional Court, in a decision dated September 24, 2026, issued a preliminary injunction barring Google from spreading false statements about a physician through its AI search results, explicitly relying on the reasoning of the Munich Regional Court I. Both courts classified AI-generated text not as links to third-party websites but as Google's own statements, making the company directly liable. The physician was wrongly linked by Google's AI Mode to a sexual assault allegation and a fabricated legal aftermath that actually involved a different former university professor; according to the court, the texts were still live after Google said in mid-September it would take no action. Google can challenge the injunction, which is not final, and faces fines of up to 250,000 euros per violation if it breaches the order.

  2. Google highlights Circle to Search's AI scam detection on Android

Android Authority reports that Google is reminding users that Circle to Search can already flag suspicious text messages with the help of AI Overviews. In its hands-on test, the outlet said the feature worked as intended, explaining why a message might be fraudulent and suggesting next steps. Google Lens offers the same scam-checking capability on phones without Circle to Search, including iPhones, though not all of Google's scam detection features reach every Android device.

  3. Google reportedly serves poisoned search results to AI crawlers, rank trackers

TechNews reports that SEO rank-tracking vendors say Google has since September been returning “poisoned” search results pages to automated scraping tools: the pages look normal but replace many top sites with unrelated results. Nozzle said it analyzed 27.5 million SERPs across 49 countries and found 8.0% of identifiable result pages were poisoned between Sept. 13 and Oct. 9, versus 0.17% in a baseline period; DemandSphere reported about 11% of its daily checks were anomalous. Google has not confirmed the claim, and the industry view that the practice targets crawlers used for AI answers remains speculation; Google’s September spam update overlapped the period.
