DeepSeek Publishes Super-agent Architecture and Open-Sources Research Prototype

On October 31, 2026, the DeepSeek Harness team published "Exploring Super-agent Design: Towards a More Autonomous Agent System," describing a Router/Worker two-layer architecture with event-driven triggers, asynchronous multi-channel interaction, separated compute and state, and an external Watchdog session. Parts of the design are implemented in the MIT-licensed dsh-superagent-prototype on GitHub, which the team says is only a prototype for validating the technical approach and not an official DeepSeek product; the public version targets a single GitHub repository with optional Feishu integration. DeepSeek's own synthetic-load tests, using about 300 messages with roughly 20 work requests and five repeats per scheme, reported task-completion p50/p95 of 12.4 and 15.7 minutes versus 29.5 minutes p95 for a single-session baseline, and an internal Super-agent instance has been running on issue reproduction, code-review responses and DeepSeek Harness iteration.

GDPx Launches Benchmark for Frontier AI Capabilities

SemiAnalysis introduced GDPx, a benchmark covering chip design, cybersecurity, finance, software engineering, recursive self-improvement and other high-value domains. It reports that even the best model scored 12%, while Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra and Gemini 4 Carbon led different categories; SemiAnalysis says some overall scores were affected by safety classifiers. The creators aim for GDPx to become a leading benchmark for general agentic capabilities, but that positioning is their own claim.

OpenAI Tightens ChatGPT Weapons Rules for Teens, Adds Automatic Talk Bans

OpenAI announced on October 30 that it will restrict what ChatGPT tells users under 18 about weapons and security systems that could be misused for violence, even when the question appears harmless. The company also said ChatGPT may automatically end conversations that repeatedly focus on violence or signal intent to seriously harm others, with possible temporary account suspensions and parental notification for teen accounts. New restrictions also limit details on weapons, acquisition methods and casualty-scale comparisons when reconstructing past mass attacks, and the changes will roll out over several weeks.

Benchmark compares 12 JavaScript approaches for AI-built Pokémon apps

Nolan Lawson had AI agents build the same PokéAPI-based Pokémon application using 12 JavaScript framework approaches, measuring estimated API cost, token use, development time, code size, and Lighthouse results. Hono+htmx had the lowest median estimated cost at $2.67, while Angular reached $4.97 and used about 9.76 million tokens versus 4.26 million for Hono+htmx, though results varied considerably between runs. Lawson cautions that the single, relatively simple content-oriented app does not establish a universal framework ranking.

Tampered Claude Code Extension Attempts SSH Backdoor via Cursor Marketplace

Cursor confirmed that a modified Claude Code for VS Code extension distributed through its marketplace affected at most 5,000 users. Versions 2.1.312 and 2.1.313 for macOS and Windows were identified as affected. Researchers reported that the extension attempted to collect host and user information, including names of environment variables associated with credentials, and to establish a persistent SSH backdoor. Code errors likely prevented remote access on many devices, so the number of machines on which the backdoor was successfully established remains unclear. Cursor removed the extension, temporarily took down its marketplace, and reinstated it after working with providers to neutralize the malware and confirm there was no further risk. Users were asked to update to version 2.1.314.

SkillPoison Uses Successful Experiences to Poison Agent Skills

A report on research by a Jilin University team describes SkillPoison, an attack that does not inject malicious instructions into an AI agent's skill library. It selects successful, validated experiences, adds attribution annotations, and repeats them across task categories, encouraging a skill extractor to generalize a locally valid rule while dropping its preconditions. The evaluation covered three datasets, two skill-formation frameworks, and one victim model, with an attack budget of 15 successful experiences. The reported peak attack success rate was 95.71%; in that experiment, task accuracy fell from 78.57% to 3.81%. The evaluation did not test carefully controlled low-and-slow attacks, and performance with stronger models or more complex commercial skill pipelines remains unknown.
