Rivian Acquires Third Dimension AI for Autonomous-Driving Simulation
Rivian has acquired Third Dimension AI, a startup that rebuilds real-world camera footage into controllable 3D environments for training and validating driver-assistance and self-driving software. The Next Web says the 15-person team will join Rivian’s autonomy and AI group in London, while the deal’s financial terms were not disclosed. Rivian also plans an invitation-only early experience in California and Florida in December for supervised point-to-point driving features on selected second-generation R1 and R2 vehicles.
The acquisition adds a controllable 3D simulation approach based on real driving data to Rivian’s autonomous-driving development and validation workflow, according to the reports.
