Google TPUs to Reach Oracle Cloud as OpenAI Eyes Purchases
Oracle confirmed that it will offer Google TPUs through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, making it the first cloud vendor outside Google to sell Google’s AI accelerators, according to TechRadar. TPU 8t for training and TPU 8i for inference are planned for OCI availability in 2027. Separately, The Information reported that OpenAI plans to purchase Google TPUs, but final terms are unknown and both OpenAI and Google declined to comment.
The arrangement expands Google TPU distribution beyond Google Cloud, while the reported OpenAI purchase would add a major external buyer; the latter remains unconfirmed.
