- Broadcom in talks to arrange over $50B financing for OpenAI custom AI chips
Broadcom has been working to arrange more than $50 billion in financing for the custom AI chips it is co-developing with OpenAI, with Apollo Global Management and Blackstone among the lenders in talks, according to reports citing people familiar with the matter. Oracle is separately negotiating with Apollo and Goldman Sachs to raise money for its own chip purchases, while one report put the Broadcom-OpenAI financing closer to $30 billion. Broadcom recently launched a $60 billion debt financing to support Anthropic's build-out and in June set up an AI infrastructure financing platform with Apollo and Blackstone, aiming to fund more than 20 GW of compute for developers including OpenAI and Anthropic by 2028.

At its NetApp INSIGHT event, NetApp laid out an "intelligent data infrastructure" strategy that it says lets enterprises make legacy data usable for AI in place, across file, block and object storage, without re-architecting or moving it. SVP of product marketing Jen Prenner said data must be accessible, governed, protected and available, adding that protection is built into every layer, that the company has expanded its Commvault partnership, and that its Console control plane can run locally for disconnected environments. NetApp also announced plans for a fully managed storage service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure within the next 12 months.
