Anthropic launches Cyber Mission covering critical infrastructure and open source
Anthropic announced the Anthropic Cyber Mission, a long-term commitment to give defenders tools, research and resources. Its first two efforts: the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program (CIDP), which brings frontier Claude models, on-site engineers and threat research to defenders of operational technology such as power grids, water systems and transport networks, with 11 founding partners including Accenture, Booz Allen, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, Dragos, Hitachi, Insane Cyber, Nozomi Networks, Palo Alto Networks, PwC and Rockwell Automation; and OSS Scanner, a free opt-in service that scans open-source projects and sends model-generated reports directly to maintainers without human review, with Anthropic expecting a true-positive rate above 90%.
Frontier labs are now putting model capability on both sides of cyber conflict, which could reshape how critical infrastructure and open-source software are secured.
