- Physical AI meets the factory floor’s hard requirements
虎嗅 AI’s analysis of the China International Industry Expo says physical AI is entering factory pilots for tasks such as variable-material sorting, machine loading, process work and quality inspection. ABB Robotics China president Han Chen said small-batch, multi-variety production with frequent changeovers is particularly suitable, while the report says deployments must still meet strict requirements for safety, efficiency, cost and operational stability. The report highlights Siemens’ pilot scenarios and ABB’s AI Robot Trainer integration as approaches to testing and reusing capabilities, as well as a Hitachi-Fanuc collaboration. It argues that adoption depends on stable performance and fitting into existing equipment, software and management systems without transferring excessive adaptation work to vendors.
虎嗅 AI · 🔥 0 - Shipbuilders in Singapore, Japan and Korea race into floating AI data centers
Citing a Business Korea report, TechNews says power and land constraints on AI data centers are drawing attention to floating data centers (FDCs), with shipbuilders in Singapore, Japan and South Korea positioning early. Singapore's Keppel has begun building a 25MW floating data center targeted for 2028 operation, while Seatrium has obtained an Approval in Principle for a 30MW-class FDC. Japan's Mitsui O.S.K. Lines is working with Hitachi and others to convert existing vessels into data centers, targeting operation as early as 2027, while Samsung Heavy Industries is developing a 50MW design, Hanwha Ocean a 60MW modular design, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans 100MW-class floating power equipment with Schneider Electric's power and cooling technology. The report also notes salt damage, humidity and waves may affect server stability, and that construction cost, reliability and equipment standardization remain key to commercialization.
科技新报 · 🔥 0 - NTT Data nears deal to build 500MW Osaka data center for Anthropic
Nikkei Asia reported that NTT Data Group is in the final stages of talks to build a data center in Osaka for Anthropic with up to 500 megawatts of power intake capacity, which would make it one of Japan's largest. Construction alone could cost up to ¥1 trillion (about $6.3 billion), and the two companies aim to sign a deal by the end of March 2027, with part of the site possibly opening as early as 2028, according to the report. Both NTT Data and Anthropic declined to comment to Nikkei, and the reports say the project would initially rely on on-site generation such as fuel cells because drawing 500 MW from the grid would take time.
Techmeme · 🔥 0 - Anthropic launches Cyber Mission and free OSS Scanner
Anthropic announced the Anthropic Cyber Mission on October 8, comprising the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program (CIDP) and a free OSS Scanner. CIDP gives Claude frontier models, on-site engineers and threat research to eleven founding partners including Accenture, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, Hitachi, Palo Alto Networks, PwC and Rockwell Automation. OSS Scanner is opt-in and modeled on Google's OSS-Fuzz, with reports fully generated by models and no human triage; Anthropic says testers reviewed 97 critical and high-severity findings from 48 projects, 85 met its disclosure bar, and it expects more than 90% of findings to be real, while Chinese reports say six months of scanning found over 29,000 candidate vulnerabilities with only about 6,000 manually reviewed.
