ha-mcp brings AI-assisted Home Assistant management via MCP
The homeassistant-ai/ha-mcp project presents an unofficial Model Context Protocol server that lets AI assistants interact with Home Assistant through natural language. Its README says assistants can control devices, query states, execute services, manage automations, create dashboards, and inspect traces, history, and logs; privileged file and YAML editing tools are also available through the custom component. The recommended HA-MCP Custom Component installs through HACS and runs the server in-process across Home Assistant OS, Supervised, Container, and Core installations, although these compatibility and capability claims have not been independently tested.
The project extends AI-assistant access beyond ordinary device control to Home Assistant configuration, automation, dashboard, debugging, and privileged file-management tasks, but its practical reliability and compatibility remain unverified.
