Dell widens AI partner ecosystem as Silicon Valley enterprises build their own stacks
Speaking with theCUBE Research's John Furrier at Dell's “AI Leadership Symposium,” Sean O'Connor, Dell's regional manager for large enterprise and acquisition in the West, said Silicon Valley customers are highly technical and prefer to build rather than buy, so Dell focuses on explaining its consultative services instead of leading with packaged solutions. He said Dell's notion of an ecosystem is broadening beyond technology partners such as Intel, SHI, Microsoft, Nvidia, AMD, TSMC and Micron to include private equity and venture capital, with Dell Technologies Capital giving the company a line into the startups and developer communities its customers already talk to. O'Connor also cited the Dell AI Factory with Nvidia portfolio expanded at Dell Technologies World in May, and said the company is “rolling out 350 racks within two weeks.”
It shows how infrastructure vendors are shifting from packaged offerings toward partner networks that serve build-it-yourself enterprises as AI moves from pilots into production.
