BlackRock's Fink Warns Slow Data-Center Buildout Would Spur Inflation
BlackRock CEO Larry Fink warned that delays in building data centers could raise computing costs and threaten economic growth as demand for artificial intelligence accelerates, Bloomberg Technology reported. Speaking to Bloomberg's Francine Lacqua on the sidelines of the Berlin Global Dialogue, Fink said: "The faster we can build out more data centers, the more compute we have, the faster we can bring down the cost." Bloomberg framed the remarks under the headline that a slow AI buildout would spur inflation.
The warning puts an on-record macro view from the head of the world's largest asset manager behind the argument that data-center construction speed, not just chip supply, shapes AI computing costs and inflation.
