Banks Delay Bond Sale for Anthropic-Tied Texas Data Center
Banks are delaying plans to sell bonds backed by part of a roughly $15 billion loan used to fund the Hubbard data center near Waco, Texas, which is tied to Anthropic PBC. The delay followed Texas’ hold on new project approvals while it assesses power-grid risks. A Chinese report published by 36Kr and attributed to Caixin says lenders led by Morgan Stanley raised about $15 billion, including a $14.2 billion one-year loan and a $1.4 billion five-year revolving credit facility. It said the planned sales could occur in tranches over the next year, but the final timing and size were not established.
The delay will keep the debt on banks’ balance sheets longer than planned while Texas reviews grid-related risks affecting new data-center projects.
