Amp expands its coding agent beyond code with OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra
Amp builds a frontier AI agent for developers, and in an OpenAI customer story, Amp CEO Quinn Slack says OpenAI models account for the majority of tokens used in Amp, citing consistent model improvements and transparent safeguards. Amp launched a Sign in with ChatGPT integration that gives users more tokens and access to OpenAI models including GPT-6 Astra, with Slack saying some users consume 10 billion tokens a week. Amp also recently announced Puck, a conversational assistant inside Amp, and Calling Puck powered by GPT-Live-1 lets users talk to it in real time; Amp has been testing Ultrafast mode with GPT-6 Astra, which Slack says changes how people use agents.
The case study shows agent builders pushing frontier models into longer autonomous tasks, but the usage and performance claims come from the vendor's partner and are not independently verified.
