  1. Amp adds view-and-control access to your runner's desktop

Amp says users can now see and control their macOS or Linux runner's desktop. The company pitches it as useful for trying native apps that Amp builds for you, such as iOS apps. You can turn on "Share This Mac's Display" under Settings › Runner in the macOS app, or start your runner with amp --no-tui --desktop. Because the Amp client connects directly to the runner, the experience is described as nearly instant when the runner is on your local network or nearby.

  2. Amp expands its coding agent beyond code with OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra

Amp builds a frontier AI agent for developers, and in an OpenAI customer story, Amp CEO Quinn Slack says OpenAI models account for the majority of tokens used in Amp, citing consistent model improvements and transparent safeguards. Amp launched a Sign in with ChatGPT integration that gives users more tokens and access to OpenAI models including GPT-6 Astra, with Slack saying some users consume 10 billion tokens a week. Amp also recently announced Puck, a conversational assistant inside Amp, and Calling Puck powered by GPT-Live-1 lets users talk to it in real time; Amp has been testing Ultrafast mode with GPT-6 Astra, which Slack says changes how people use agents.

  3. Amp adds GitHub webhooks to follow up on PR comments and CI

Amp announced first-class GitHub Webhooks support: when Amp opens a pull request, the agent can now subscribe to that PR's comments, reviews and CI results for its latest commit, so a failing check or a reviewer's question appears in the same thread where the agent already has context to act. Users can also ask Amp to start a new orb for every new issue or PR in a repository, optionally limited to a certain label, with each new item getting its own orb that reads it and leaves a summary waiting; later comments on that issue or PR go to the same thread. These subscriptions can be edited or paused under Settings → MCP & Integrations → GitHub, which also shows the orbs each one started, and the company says installing the Amp GitHub App on a repository is required to get started.

  4. Amp's Changes pane adds automatic intelligent file ordering

Amp's Changes pane now automatically reorders files into an intelligent order: it reads the diff, identifies the files essential to the change, and places them first. When the diff changes, Amp computes an updated order without rearranging files while the user is reviewing them—instead a blue dot appears on the intelligent ordering button and the new order is applied only when clicked. Amp says the new automatic intelligent ordering is computed much more rapidly, and users can still switch back to alphabetical file ordering via the ordering button.

  5. Amp adds Claude Code mode that uses your Claude Pro or Max plan

Amp announced that users can now use their Claude Pro/Max subscription inside Amp, free and available to everyone. When creating a new thread, users pick Mode > Claude Code and are asked to link their Claude subscription if they haven't already; under the hood, this mode uses the Claude Agent SDK instead of Amp's own agent. Amp says orbs and runners, thread sharing, portals, multiplayer, and thread-to-thread messaging and orchestration all still work in this mode.
