IDC: OCP-certified equipment spending to reach $892B by 2030
The OCP Foundation published a new IDC market study estimating that annual global spending on OCP-recognized IT equipment will grow from $154 billion in 2025 to $892 billion in 2030, a 42% compound annual growth rate. AI-related infrastructure is projected at $628 billion, about 70% of that market, with servers remaining the largest category at roughly $814 billion, or 91% of OCP-recognized IT equipment spending, driven mainly by GPU-accelerated systems. IDC also raised its 2029 forecast for OCP-recognized equipment to $800 billion from $295 billion a year earlier, and expects such equipment to account for about 51% of total infrastructure spending in the market it studies by 2030.
The forecast indicates a sharply higher share for open-architecture data-center equipment as AI rack power density rises and demand grows for liquid cooling and high-voltage DC power.
