Utopai pushes AI-native films into theatres and Hollywood unions
Per ifanr, AI-native studio Utopai Studios is advancing several theatrical projects: the family animated feature The Most Serious Fart (planned for summer 2027), the eight-episode sci-fi series Space Nation (in production under a Hollywood guild framework), the historical epic Cortés (full theatrical release expected 2027), a Journey to the West project co-developed with Huace Film & TV, and the 2027 drama Half Moon. The company says it has presold some international distribution rights for Space Nation and Cortés to traditional buyers including Brazil's Globo system and German broadcasters at standard non-AI market prices, with combined presale revenue potentially reaching about $110 million. Its in-house video model Utopai X, specially trained for film production on top of MiniMax H3, ranks first in audio sync and physics according to Artificial Analysis and feeds into its PAI production platform.
If the presales and theatrical plans hold, it tests whether AI-native production can be accepted by the traditional film buying system.
