South Korea’s sixth-generation Hanjin supercomputer goes live
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT announced that the sixth-generation national supercomputer “Hanjin” is now operational. The hybrid CPU-GPU system uses NVIDIA GH200 chips, with 9,936 CPUs and 8,496 GPUs, and the ministry reported 614 PF of theoretical performance. It also claimed Hanjin offers 24 times the computing performance, 10 times the storage capacity and four times the network performance of the 2018 Nurion system, but these comparisons and a projected TOP500 top-10 ranking have not been independently verified.
Hanjin is a major national AI-computing deployment built with NVIDIA GH200 hardware, giving South Korea a newly operational high-performance computing resource.
