  1. Taiwan's AI dividend yet to spread; scholars urge wider chip supply-chain push

Citing Central News Agency reporting, TechNews said WTO chief economist Robert Staiger sees no sign the AI boom is slowing, though he noted economists cannot confirm a bubble exists until it bursts, and that a bust would weigh on current trade growth. A University of Hong Kong business school vice dean, Deng Xiwei, said Taiwan benefits from the AI boom through its semiconductor specialization, but gains remain concentrated in specific industries; he urged deeper upstream and downstream supply-chain positioning plus related services. The report also noted the IMF raised its forecast for Taiwan's real GDP growth this year to 10.7% from 5.2% in April, the highest in the Asia-Pacific.

  2. Deloitte report: only 10.2% of enterprises reach deep AI use stage

A report jointly published by Deloitte China and the University of Hong Kong's research center on AI, management and organization found that the share of enterprises reaching production deployment rose to 64.4% from 56.0% in 2025, and those deploying AI across multiple teams grew to 33.7% from 14.7%, while those reaching deep use edged up only to 10.2% from 7.4%. It says 48.5% of surveyed firms reported returns below expectations and 44.4% could not clearly measure AI project ROI, with integration with existing systems the top bottleneck at 56.6%; meanwhile 74% of organizations plan to use agentic AI within two years but only 21% have a mature governance model. Lenovo said its China R&D unit's "full-stack engineer plus five agents" model lifted overall efficiency by more than 30% and AI-generated code contribution above 80% in FY2025/26, with silicon-based customer service handling 75% of volume, and that it has mapped 692 business processes for restructuring.

  3. DiffuSpace raises hundreds of millions of yuan in record dLLM funding round

Shenzhen diffusion-language-model startup DiffuSpace has completed two consecutive funding rounds co-led by Matrix Partners China, Shunwei Capital and Legend Capital, with CAS Star, Huawei Hubble and Horizon Robotics among the followers. The company did not disclose the exact amount; reports describe it as "hundreds of millions of yuan," while TMTPost says the total is close to RMB 500 million and calls it a record for global diffusion language model (dLLM) funding. Founded in Shenzhen in May 2026 by HKU NLP lab co-director Kong Lingpeng and his PhD students Gong Sansan and Ye Jiacheng, DiffuSpace says its earlier Dream 7B model has passed 2.5 million Hugging Face downloads and that a larger next-generation dLLM is being trained for release and open-sourcing soon.
