Xbox forms Xbox Labs to explore AI game remixes, ports and browser play

Microsoft's Xbox announced a new Xbox Labs team that will use small-scale R&D and prototyping to explore cross-platform compatibility, browser play, and AI-assisted game remixing and porting. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced the group internally and CTO Scott Van Vliet will lead it, with members drawn from game producers, engineers and scientists. Microsoft said Xbox Labs consolidates existing work including an Apple Silicon compatibility layer, browser game publishing and mod-community support, with no imminent products or clear timeline, while Wccftech reported the effort will lean heavily on AI and quoted Sharma saying the experiments could challenge Xbox's own business models.
