  1. Alibaba Cloud Restructures Qoder as QoderWork Winds Down

Alibaba Cloud announced that QoderWork will gradually wind down, with a final shutdown scheduled for September 5, 2027, as users are directed to the Qoder desktop client for development work or Qianwen Office for general office tasks. Qoder disclosed at the September Yunqi Conference that annualized recurring revenue had reached US$100 million, while May official data showed enterprise customers supplied 70% of revenue; these figures were not independently verified. The Quest standalone window is also being retired, with task-oriented users steered to the new Qoder.

  2. E-commerce Platforms Expand AI Tools for Singles’ Day

Alibaba’s Qianwen Office launched an invite-only e-commerce edition on October 14, offering cross-platform dashboards, trend insights, marketing-material generation and ad optimization. JD and Douyin E-commerce are also expanding AI tools for merchants, while merchant interviews cited accuracy problems, limited workflow fit and restricted API access as adoption barriers.

  3. DuMate ranks second among AI-office agents by monthly active users

TMTPost, citing QuestMobile's Q3 2026 AI application report, said Baidu DuMate reached 9.77 million monthly active users and 83.81 million uses across devices, ranking second behind Tencent WorkBuddy at 32.353 million users. QuestMobile also reported 7.905 million monthly users for Qianwen Office and 2.049 million for Doubao Workspace, while DuMate's personal subscription was listed at 59 yuan per month and enterprise seats at a promotional 132 yuan each.

  4. Alibaba's Qianwen Office launches e-commerce edition as Doubao joins Double 11 shopping

Ahead of China's Double 11 shopping festival, Alibaba's Qianwen Office released an e-commerce edition agent, pitched as an independent third party serving merchants on any platform; switching to an "e-commerce operations" mode inside Qianwen Office gives four initial functions: a cross-platform operations dashboard, trend and selling-point analysis, batch generation of promotional material, and cross-platform ROI optimisation. Separately, Douyin E-commerce said on October 15 that it will distribute shopping coupons in batches through Doubao, Hongguo Short Drama and Toutiao during Double 11, extending promotions beyond the Douyin app, and Doubao added a dedicated "Double 11: ask Doubao" navigation bar with product comparison and budget-based picking. The account comes from a single authorised trend feature by Tingtong Tech published via TMTPost, so the product details and merchant uptake remain reported rather than independently confirmed.

  5. QuestMobile: Doubao tops AI native apps at 419M MAU; Tencent WorkBuddy leads office Agents

QuestMobile published its Q3 2026 China AI application market report on October 20. As of September 2026, AI native apps reached 546 million monthly active users, up 82.1% year over year, with Doubao at 419 million, Qwen at 158 million and DeepSeek at 123 million; AI office MAU reached 142 million, up 50.6%, with Tencent WorkBuddy leading office Agents at 32.353 million, ahead of Baidu Dazi at 9.77 million and Qianwen Office at 7.905 million. Office Agent figures grew 518.4% year over year on the AI native app side and 512.2% on PC clients. 钛媒体 cited Analysys data putting September desktop visits at 85.34 million for WorkBuddy, 46.55 million for Qianwen Office and 30.39 million for Doubao Work, and noted that QuestMobile adds MAU across covered endpoints without deduplicating cross-device users, while Analysys counts desktop interactions. AIX财经 noted Qwen grew 5076.6% year over year and surpassed DeepSeek in scale, partly reflecting a low early baseline, while Qwen fell 5.4% quarter over quarter; DeepSeek fell 15.2% year over year.

  6. Qianwen Office bets on enterprise context to retain Agent customers

A commentary republished by TMTPost from New Stance Pro examines Qianwen Office's enterprise-context push. At a September 22 Yunqi conference talk, CEO Chen Yusen framed the company around "Context is All You Need," and Alibaba made the idea into Enterprise Context, a product that organizes company knowledge and business data, supplies them to Agents per task and updates as the business changes. Citing release materials, the article says Guming's Feishu documents, knowledge bases, Q&A groups and training schedules were organized into a store-operations knowledge space, while Fulika was configured with three digital employees for product lookup, quoting and contracts. It cautions that using DingTalk does not mean an Agent understands the business, and no active or paying Agent customer count can be inferred. The author says Qianwen Office can reuse DingTalk identities, departments, approvals and access settings to cut setup, but data onboarding, authorization and upkeep after rule changes still need people and field services; retention depends on delivery and service quality.

  7. Alibaba's 1688 opens Accio AI commerce workbench; Qianwen Office adds e-commerce mode

On October 13, Alibaba's digital supply-chain platform 1688 said it is fully connecting to Accio, a global e-commerce AI workbench, letting its more than 100 million annual active buyers and over 1 million source factories open access directly. According to PingWest, buyers get a procurement assistant that covers 1688 and Alibaba.com across 128 countries and regions for sourcing, price comparison and inquiries, plus an e-commerce steward agent that links store operations on Taobao, Tmall, Douyin, Pinduoduo and JD.com; sellers download a 1688 business assistant and bind their stores to use AI tools tailored to in-stock, custom and cross-border models. Accio says 10 million SMEs worldwide already use it, a vendor claim. Separately, 36Kr reported on October 14 that Qianwen Office released an e-commerce edition and opened invite-only testing; IT之家, citing LatePost, said it is not a standalone app but an "e-commerce operations" mode inside the general product, with five sections, and currently works more like a cross-platform analysis and content-production workbench that cannot yet adjust ad spend or run a store autonomously.

  8. China's AI office agent race takes three-way shape: WorkBuddy, Qianwen Office, Doubao

A column by 影子备忘录, republished with authorization by 钛媒体, argues that China's AI office agent market has begun to settle into a three-way contest among Tencent WorkBuddy, Alibaba Qianwen Office and ByteDance Doubao Work. Citing QuestMobile data, it says the AI productivity-office segment reached 102 million monthly active users and about 1.387 billion monthly uses as of July 2026, up 112.4% year on year, but the vendors' user figures use very different definitions: Doubao's 382 million is the whole Doubao app, Qianwen Office's 30 million is cumulative first-month sign-ups with only 1.58 million MAU in August, and WorkBuddy's 20 million is cross-platform MAU, with the article saying its enterprise paid customers number 3,000–7,300 and paid seats about 140,000. It also notes Qianwen Office's August 3 public beta consolidating QoderWork, 悟空 and MuleRun, Doubao Work's August 25 launch, and WorkBuddy's March 9 full launch and September 2 open platform; claims such as first place in an Alibaba Cloud-organized evaluation are attributed to the article alone.
