  1. Jensen Huang says NVIDIA GPUs can remain productive for eight years or more

At GTC Berlin, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said NVIDIA computing systems can remain productive for eight years or more. He attributed their longevity to broad deployment, continued software enhancements, versatility and durability, and said the chips could retain residual value and become attractive collateral for loans. Separately, on SpaceX’s Q3 2026 earnings call, Elon Musk argued that improving AI software could increase useful intelligence per watt, claiming that some older H100 GPUs now rent for more than they did when new.

  2. Glance Forcing cuts video diffusion distillation to one trajectory

arXiv posted "Glance Forcing: Making Bidirectional Diffusion Autoregressive at a Glance" (arXiv:2610.20220) on 14 October 2026 by Zhuobai Dong and five co-authors. The authors say distilling a bidirectional diffusion model into a causal few-step student normally requires offline PF-ODE trajectories costing tens of thousands of GPU-hours and terabytes of storage; their Glance Forcing framework splits the denoising trajectory into complementary slow and fast experts with stage-specific objectives while keeping the pretrained teacher frozen. They report that using only one PF-ODE trajectory raises VBench Total from 84.04 to 84.22 and cuts trajectory-collection cost from thousands of GPU-hours to about one A100-GPU-hour, with larger gains in dynamic degree, VisionReward and instruction-following; all figures are author-reported with no independent replication supplied.
