Red Fruit Drops Coins as Tencent’s Green Bubble Targets Short-Drama Creators

Red Fruit Short Drama announced a phased withdrawal of its coin system, stopping coin issuance for new users from November 1 and ending the feature for all users before year-end; it also added rest and sleep reminders on October 23. Tencent’s Green Bubble Short Drama is competing for creators through a campaign offering eligible new dramas up to 100% revenue sharing and by adapting WeChat public-account novels into micro-dramas. TMTPost interprets the contrasting approaches as a shift from rewarding viewing time toward competing through content quality, while noting that AI-generated short dramas face thin profitability and uncertain platform incentives.
