Invariance Is the Cornerstone of the World
When I say that the world is built upon invariance, do you feel puzzled? Or does it prompt some reflection? Let’s talk about something we all know: the chemical reaction equations we learned in high school chemistry. Suppose that one day, when hydrogen burns in oxygen, it doesn’t produce water but hydrochloric acid gas instead. What would the world be like? Please think for a moment… Our education tells us what is invariant and what constitutes universal laws. Once we find the universal laws, we can use them to transform our world—that is the cornerstone. As for laws of change without regularity, they are simply laws without regularity. We can use them just the same, and that’s all.
