Google launches AI Edge Foresight, an offline macOS meeting note-taker

Google released Google AI Edge Foresight, an experimental macOS meeting note-taking app that runs entirely offline using its 740-million-parameter on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model, with a Gemma 4-powered assistant for asking questions about the transcript. It offers a split-screen view for shorthand notes alongside AI-generated notes, and lets users import PDFs, Google Docs, Office files, plain text, Markdown and web bookmarks as a knowledge base for real-time answers. Google says files, meeting audio and notes "never leave your computer," and the free app is currently optimized only for Apple Silicon Macs. Why it matters: It shows Google testing Gemma-family on-device models for private, offline productivity work, a different route from cloud-based note-takers like Granola. What do you think?
