Samsung forecasts record Q3 operating profit of 107.4tn won on AI memory demand

AI summary

Samsung Electronics' preliminary guidance puts third-quarter operating profit at 107.4tn won (about $80bn), roughly a ninefold rise from 12.17tn won a year earlier and the first time it has topped 100tn won, marking a fourth straight record quarter. Revenue is forecast at 195tn won, up 127% year over year, driven by AI server demand for DRAM, NAND and high-bandwidth memory. Full third-quarter results are due on 29 October.

Why it matters: Samsung's record profit is the latest signal of how AI infrastructure spending is feeding through to memory chip demand and pricing.
