Replit launches desktop app preview for Windows with Microsoft and NVIDIA sandboxing
Replit announced a preview of its desktop app in partnership with Microsoft, presented on stage at a Microsoft event. On Windows, Replit builds and runs apps locally, with each build running in its own sandbox powered by Microsoft Execution Containers and NVIDIA OpenShell. Early access is available via a waitlist.
Why it matters: Moving builds and runs into local sandboxes could appeal to developers who want local execution and stronger isolation, and signals Windows' push to support AI-assisted coding workflows.
