Doubao app adds utility bill payment via voice or text
AI summary
ByteDance's AI assistant Doubao has added a "life services payment" feature inside its app: users speak or type a command such as "pay the water bill" and a service card appears, linking to a dedicated page where water, electricity and gas bills can be paid. A person close to Doubao said the assistant is building out multi-scenario task capability spanning travel services and bill payments.
Why it matters: It illustrates how LLM assistants are shifting from text generation and search toward closed-loop, high-frequency real-world services, and where consumer AI competition is heading.
