YouTube rolls out Ask YouTube AI search to Android and iOS in the US
Google announced it is expanding YouTube's conversational AI search feature, “Ask YouTube,” to Android and iOS mobile devices in the US, after previously offering it on the web and on TV. According to 9to5Google, the feature was once limited to YouTube Premium subscribers but is now available to all users, while Android Authority notes availability is currently US-only, is not offered for supervised kid accounts and does not appear in the YouTube Kids app. The feature is powered by Gemini and its answers are not restricted to the video's content; Google says the version usable directly from the watch page in the Shorts feed and during live streams will come in a later release.
It pushes AI question-answering from the search box into the video-watching experience, potentially changing how users get information on YouTube.
