Tencent's WorkBuddy, CodeBuddy refund DeepSeek outage credits, add 500 points
DeepSeek's web and API service went down on the morning of Oct 15 for about 4 hours 53 minutes (8:11 to 13:04) before recovering, and DeepSeek's official platform said it would compensate all API users for seven days of usage. Tencent's WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy then followed with their own remedy: users of the China edition who were affected while calling DeepSeek models will get a full refund of the points they spent on the model between Oct 8 and 14, credited within seven business days. Both products are also giving all China-edition users an extra 500 points, which must be claimed manually on the "usage management" page before 24:00 on Oct 22 and expire after one month.
A short outage at a leading model provider and the credits that followed show how much enterprise AI apps now depend on a single supplier's availability.
