FT survey: 54% of 94 economists see AI gains spreading across G20
The Financial Times published a survey of 94 economists across Asia, the US and Europe on October 18. 54% expect many or nearly all G20 economies to see significant AI-driven growth and productivity gains over the next decade, rather than gains concentrating only in the US and China; 32 respondents expect African countries to fall behind. Huxiu AI notes the findings are forward-looking expectations, not measured growth, and that adoption depends on infrastructure, skills and business process changes.
The survey suggests economists expect AI's economic benefits to diffuse beyond the US and China, while a sizable minority warns weaker-infrastructure economies could fall further behind.
