Doubao Phone Assistant restricts its agent from operating financial apps
Doubao Phone Assistant updated its official list of apps that its agent will not operate, adding a proactive restriction on financial applications spanning banking, trust services, payments, internet finance and credit, IT之家 reported on October 21. The update follows the September 14 launch of the consumer version and the accompanying Screen Automation Execution Protocol (SAEP), a disclosure mechanism for cross-app GUI agent operations; the 30-day public notice period ended October 14, when Doubao said it would gradually open screen-automation permissions for third-party apps. Doubao said that previously published refusal lists already name financial institutions including ICBC, China Merchants Bank and Chongqing Rural Commercial Bank, and that developers can still declare refusal at any time, with feedback promised within three working days.
The move shows a Chinese phone agent vendor voluntarily fencing off high-risk financial tasks, a compliance step reported as coming from Doubao itself rather than from a regulator.
