SpaceX seeks $40B financing led by Apollo to buy Nvidia chips
SpaceX is in talks with banks and investors to raise about $40 billion to buy Nvidia chips, split between roughly $10 billion in bank loans and $30 billion in investment-grade bonds, with Apollo Global Management expected to lead and PIMCO among potential lenders, according to reports from The Information, Bloomberg and others citing people familiar with the matter. The deal is expected to close in 2027; Apollo and PIMCO declined to comment and SpaceX and Nvidia did not immediately respond. Chinese coverage also cites Musk saying the company decided to build "entirely on Nvidia," calling the Vera Rubin platform the best architecture.
If completed, it would rank among the largest-ever debt financings for the AI buildout, showing how much compute expansion now depends on large-scale borrowing.
