OpenAI races to raise ~$30B at $1.4T+ valuation ahead of Anthropic IPO
Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter, reports that OpenAI is rushing to secure investor commitments for a round of roughly $30 billion that could value it above $1.4 trillion, aiming to close before rival Anthropic's expected mid-November IPO. SoftBank, Abu Dhabi's MGX and other existing backers are in talks to participate, according to cnBeta and other Chinese outlets. OpenAI also told investors annualized revenue has accelerated since the GPT-6 Astra launch to $50 billion, with $70 billion expected by year-end, while Anthropic has said its annualized revenue was about $65 billion in July.
Per the reports, a completed round would rank among the largest AI financing deals, as both labs compete for the same pool of large investors.
