Alibaba DAMO unveils automotive-grade XuanTie E908A RISC-V CPU IP, first auto roadmap
At the RISC-V China Summit in Shenzhen on October 19, Alibaba's DAMO Academy released the automotive-enhanced XuanTie E908A processor and published its first processor roadmap aimed at autonomous driving and embodied intelligence. DAMO says E908A is the first RISC-V CPU IP to meet both ASIL-B and ASIL-D standards, with a single-point fault metric (SPFM) above 90% for the first time in the industry, targeting safety islands, domain controllers and automotive gateways. The lab also said its high-performance XuanTie C950 improves on mainstream conventional-architecture processors by more than 10% across four Agentic workloads and reaches 43 tokens/second running Qwen3.8-Flash-Next, while the next-generation automotive C950A is targeted at five times the performance of current RISC-V automotive products.
DAMO claims E908A is the first RISC-V CPU IP to meet both ASIL-B and ASIL-D with SPFM above 90%, a step toward using the open instruction set architecture in safety-critical automotive and embodied-intelligence computing.
