Alibaba's Qoder launches Fast mode: 3-second first response, ~27% fewer credits
Alibaba Cloud's agent platform Qoder has rolled out a new Fast mode, first available on desktop version 0.4.4 and above, across Personal, Enterprise, CN and international editions, with the company saying other Qoder family products will follow. Internationally, the existing Performance mode is upgraded directly to Fast with output quality said to be unchanged and automatic migration for Performance users; the CN edition adds a separate Fast tier. Alibaba says Fast cuts first response time from Performance's 8 seconds to 3 seconds and lowers credit consumption from 1.1x to 0.8x, about a 27% reduction, while in a comparison across 10 common developer tasks it claims Qoder finishes in roughly one third the time of domestic rivals and one quarter of overseas ones.
Response latency and per-call cost shape how often developers actually lean on a coding agent, so speed-and-cost moves like this intensify price and performance competition among agentic coding tools.
